Luxury Vinyl Tile Flooring – LVT Click & Dry Back

Enjoy the appearance of natural wood or stone with the durability and easy maintenance of Luxury Vinyl Tile flooring.

LVT Click & Dry Back

LVT is made using several carefully constructed layers, including a detailed design layer, a durable wear layer and a protective surface coating. This creates a practical floor that is comfortable underfoot, easy to clean and suitable for busy modern homes and commercial spaces.

At Nationwide Hardwood Flooring Company, we supply and professionally install both LVT Click and Dry Back LVT flooring. Our team can inspect your subfloor and help you select the correct system for your room, property and budget.

LVT Click Flooring

LVT Click uses interlocking edges that connect the planks or tiles together. It is installed as a floating floor, normally without fixing each plank directly to the subfloor.

Benefits of LVT Click include:

  • Faster installation with no full-spread adhesive
  • Minimal disruption during fitting
  • Can sometimes be installed over a suitable existing hard floor
  • Comfortable and stable underfoot
  • Realistic wood, stone and tile designs
  • A practical option for renovations and residential properties
  • Individual floors can be removed more easily in the future

Some Click LVT products include an attached acoustic backing. The exact underlay requirements will depend on the product and the condition of your subfloor.

Dry Back LVT Flooring

Dry Back LVT—also known as glue-down LVT—is bonded directly to a properly prepared subfloor using a specialist flooring adhesive.

Benefits of Dry Back LVT include:

  • A firm, stable feel underfoot
  • Excellent performance in busy and high-traffic areas
  • Lower finished floor height than most Click systems
  • Greater freedom to create borders, patterns and feature areas
  • Suitable for herringbone and other detailed layouts
  • Individual damaged planks can often be replaced
  • Efficient heat transfer when used with a compatible underfloor heating system

Correct subfloor preparation is essential. The surface must be smooth, dry, level and suitable for the specified adhesive.

LVT Click or Dry Back: Which Should You Choose?

Feature LVT Click Dry Back LVT
Installation Planks lock together Bonded with adhesive
Floor type Floating floor Fully adhered floor
Installation time Usually faster More preparation required
Floor height Generally thicker Generally thinner
Subfloor preparation May tolerate minor imperfections, subject to product instructions Requires a very smooth, level surface

Footfall Ideal for most homes Excellent for busy homes and commercial areas
Repairs Sections may need to be lifted Individual planks are often easier to replace

Neither system is automatically better. The right choice depends on the subfloor, expected foot traffic, room conditions, desired pattern, finished floor height and installation timescale.

Where Can LVT Flooring Be Installed?

Depending on the specific product and installation instructions, LVT can be used in:

  • Living rooms
  • Kitchens
  • Dining areas
  • Bedrooms
  • Hallways
  • Home offices
  • Bathrooms
  • Shops and showrooms
  • Offices
  • Rental properties
  • Other light-commercial environments

Although many LVT products are highly water-resistant or marketed as waterproof, the complete installation must still follow the manufacturer’s guidance—particularly around room edges, joints, bathrooms and areas exposed to standing water.

The technical distinction is supported by manufacturers such as Karndean: rigid-core Click flooring locks together as a floating floor without adhesive, while Dry Back flooring is fixed to the subfloor and permits more customised patterns.
